Chitetsu Watanabe from Niigata, Japan, has been formally confirmed as the oldest person living (man) at 112 Years 344 days as of 12 February 2020.

He was born on fifth March 1907 in Niigata as the initial of 8 children, as well as went on to have 5 youngsters of his very own with his better half Mitsue.

He asserts that the key to his long life is to "not to get angry and keep a smile on your face".

Chitetsu currently resides at a retirement home in Niigata and delights in custard dessert.
